I'm a country bumpkin and with the impending budget being announced on Wednesday, I cant not mention this:The farm inheritance tax needs scrapping. Full stop.If the government genuinely cares about food security, rural communities, or the cost of living... this tax cannot stay.Because here’s the reality no politician in London seems to grasp:Family farms aren’t “assets.”They’re livelihoods.They’re heritage.They’re the reason we have food on the shelves.And if this tax gets tightened or expanded in the Budget, here’s what’s coming:❌ Families forced to sell their farms❌ Land snapped up by corporations and developers❌ Huge drop in British food production❌ Higher food prices for everyone❌ Loss of generations’ worth of knowledge you cannot replaceFarmers don’t get paid for “holding wealth.” They get paid for working their arses off, 365 days a year, in all weather, doing a job the rest of the country depends on.So why on earth are we punishing them for trying to pass that work, and land, on to their children?If we want food grown in Britain, on British farms, by British families... we need policies that protect them, not crush them.So as we head into Wednesday’s Budget, this is the one thing I’m hoping to see:Scrap the farm inheritance tax.
